Asuka is a former NXT Women’s Champion, and she’s quickly becoming one of the most dominant Superstars in WWE history. She was called up to the main roster a few months ago, and since joining the Raw brand she’s picked up her fair share of victories, and it’s clear that WWE officials want to keep her undefeated streak intact for now.
But recently Asuka has made a change to her repertoire, as she hasn’t been using the Asuka Lock, but instead she’s been using an armbar to finisher her opponents.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that one reason why WWE may have had Asuka make the switch is to build to a possible match with Ronda Rousey down the road.
Rousey is a master of the armbar, and WWE officials have been protecting Asuka, so a match between the two is something we could see in the future.
For years now Ronda Rousey has been teasing a possible match inside a WWE ring, and it was recently reported that she’s close to signing a deal with the company.
In regards to Rousey’s first match with the company, there have been various rumors floating around in regards to who she could face.
On Twitter WWE has teased a Horsewomen vs. Horsewomen match for WrestleMania, and it’s also been rumored that she could end up facing Charlotte Flair in a singles match.
But a match with Asuka seems like it could get a lot of attention if that’s the direction that WWE decides to go with Rousey after she gets comfortable inside a WWE ring.
