Cody Rhodes did the unthinkable at WrestleMania 40 when he defeated Roman Reigns to become the new Undisputed WWE Champion. The next night on Monday Night Raw, The Rock confronted Cody Rhodes and teased that he will be looking to face The American Nightmare when he returns.
It’s been rumored for some time now that a Rock vs. Rhodes match could be on the WrestleMania 41 card. However, WrestleMania 41 is still months away and nothing has been officially announced as of this writing.
Recently on SmackDown it’s been teased that Kevin Owens and Randy Orton could be future opponents for Cody Rhodes. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that a match with Randy Orton would like be the backup plan for Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 41 is The Rock is unable to work the event.
During a recent appearance on the Pat McAfee Show, Cody Rhodes commented on his plans for WrestleMania 41 when he said, “In addition to that, WrestleMania 41, I am looking to do what I’ve done three times now and enter the main event. But I think it will be something that perhaps is bigger than anyone anticipated.”
