Over the last few years a number of wrestlers have managed to break into the main event scene and recently the wrestling world has been talking a lot about LA Knight.
LA Knight is set to face off against Roman Reigns, Randy Ortona and AJ Styles in a fatal four way for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at the Royal Rumble this weekend, but Knight was overlooked when he first returned to WWE in 2021. Shawn Michaels recently spoke to ESPN about working with LA Knight in NXT and he made it clear that he was supportive of Knight.
“I would tell them all the time that there is this guy. When people say a WWE guy or a Vince guy, he was f—ing it. I was trying to tell [them], lose the three-eight. He never looked to me like he had any mileage on him. To me he was still brand frickin’ new.”
Shawn Michaels also confirmed that LA Knight was on WWE’s cut list “several times.” According to HBK he made sure to constantly keep LA Knight involved in storylines so he could have an excuse as to why WWE shouldn’t get rid of him. Michaels also claimed that a “certain someone” couldn’t look beyond LA Knight’s age.
“I was trying to finesse a certain someone, but all he would see is the one number, the three-eight. Someone who’s damn near my age, and I’m having an argument with them. Were you old when you were 38?”
