Heading into Money in the Bank anticipation for the men’s Money in the Bank ladder match was at an all time high. LA Knight was clearly the favorite to win among fans, but in the end it was Damian Priest who walked out with the briefcase which led to many of LA Knight’s fans expressing their unhappiness with the result on social media.
Dave Meltzer recently discussed WWE’s decision to have Damian Priest win the briefcase over LA Knight on Wrestling Observer Radio, and he indicated that WWE has not plans for Knight to win a major title.
“Fans think that they’re never getting it, but that isn’t the case here, it’s like ‘if we give him the briefcase, then he’s getting a title shot, but when are we putting the title on him?’ and the answer is never, it’s probably not a good thing to give it to him.”
It remains to be seen where LA Knight will go from here as some fans thought he might be feuding with Logan Paul heading into SummerSlam, but now it seems that WWE is setting up LA Knight vs. Ricochet for the big event. Following Money in the Bank, Triple H addressed LA Knight’s status and he teased that good things come to those who wait.
One way or another LA Knight’s popularity shows no signs of slowing down, but whether or not that will lead to bigger things for him in WWE remains to be seen.
