The coronavirus pandemic has hit the professional wrestling industry pretty hard, and last week WWE announced budget cuts.
Quite a few wrestlers and producers were released, and WWE cut pay for executives, and also delayed plans for their new headquarters.
It’s no big secret that WWE has been looking to expand the NXT brand around the globe, but it doesn’t look like the company will be moving forward with those plans.
Dave Meltzer recently noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that WWE’s plans to launch NXT Japan are “dead in the water” and that all types of plans for expansion for the brand are dead for the time being.
Meltzer added that he doesn’t know what’s going to happen with NXT UK, but major cuts are expected for the brand.
