CM Punk parted ways with WWE in 2014 and he made his long awaited return to wrestling last year when he joined AEW. However, it seems that CM Punk’s run with AEW could already be over as it’s been reported that the company is in talks to buy out his contract following the physical altercation with The Elite at All Out.
With CM Punk possibly leaving AEW there’s been talk of a WWE return and speculation regarding whether or not Triple H would be open to bringing him back. Dave Meltzer discussed a possible Punk return on Wrestling Observer Radio and he noted that there are some people in the company who do not want to see the former WWE Champion return.
“I know people in WWE who absolutely do not want him (Punk) there, but they are not the people on the creative team. Everyone knows what happened in AEW, it’s like, ‘Do we really want that? Do we need that? No we don’t need that, we don’t really want that’.
“But at the end of the day, it’s not their decision. It’s the decision of Nick Khan and Stephanie and Paul (Triple H).“Paul may just go in there and go, ‘Look what happened, we don’t need it’. And they don’t. They don’t need it, and he may just do that.
“If it was Vince, Vince would do it I think, with that kind of money at stake.”
