Last year Paul Heyman was named Executive Director of Monday Night Raw, and for a while it seemed that Heyman was working to push new stars, but the advisor for the Tribal Chief was removed from the position a few months ago.
Fightful Select reports that after taking the position Heyman was integral in crafting the WWE Raw roster in late 2019. Paul Heyman reportedly went above and beyond to get underutilized talents on the Raw brand, which were referred to as the “catering crew.”
Paul Heyman event went as far as to pass up talents that were more established, including Braun Strowman.
It’s being said that many in WWE were shocked when Heyman took a position that would require him to work right under Vince McMahon.
Heyman resurfaced on the Friday Night SmackDown brand in late August when he aligned himself with Roman Reigns shortly after Reigns returned at SummerSlam.
Roman Reigns went on to win the Universal Championship a week later at Payback, and Paul Heyman is currently working as his advisor.
The Tribal Chief will defend the Universal Championship against his cousin Jey Uso in an I Quit Hell in a Cell match at the Hell in a Cell pay-per-view on Sunday.
