We previously reported WWE is planning a mini-tour of the United Kingdom featuring talents from the WWE United Kingdom Championship Tournament. Fans all around the UK were thrilled to hear this news, of course not all news hits everyone in the same way.
Patrick Bevis, who performs in the UK scene as “Rowdy” Ricky Knight is one of those people who aren’t too happy to hear about WWE’s recent interest in running shows in the UK. Bevis also happens to be the father of Paige so that makes it even more fun. To add an extra cherry on top of this sundae of fascination, WWE Studios and Seven Bucks Productions are also producing a movie based on his famous wrestling family. But still, he’s pissed WWE is encroaching in on his spot on the globe.
WWE announced they would be running a show in May at Epic Studios in Norwich, England as part of the tour. As it would turn out, there apparently aren’t that many places to hold a wrestling event in Norwich as the Bevis family’s WAW promotion is running events this Friday and Saturday at Epic Studios in Norwich as well.
Paige’s family isn’t happy about this in the slightest as they claim WWE outright tried to sandbag the ticket sales of their event by making the announcement today instead of waiting until the WAW shows were completed.
Paige’s brother, Zak said “It’s the same anywhere you go. Once you see someone doing well you want a bit of that pie.”
However, when “Rowdy” Ricky Knight recently spoke to the BBC he unloaded his opinion on the upcoming WWE UK mini-tour as he said: “They could’ve left it until Monday. They know we’re doing so well. They follow us religiously, it seems like they do. They would’ve known this is the biggest weekend in WAW history. To me they wanted to cut us open with the announcement this morning and putting their ticket sales on tonight. But tough guys, because this is going to be a sellout tonight anyway. Go and do your best.”
At least Daddy Paige is looking on the bright side of things as he says they will still sell the place out for the show headlined by Alberto El Patron among others. If you’re keeping up, The Bevis family and WAW also had a minor blow dealt to him as they signed Jack Swagger to an event after Swagger announced he had asked for his WWE release, but had to cancel the booking when World Wrestling Entertainment wouldn’t let the former WWE World Champion go.
WWE is getting a new addition of sorts as one half of the Ascension recently announced that he and his wife are expecting a baby. Konnor’s wife recently sent out this Instagram post of the couple and although this is a totally unexpected occurrence, they seem to be excited for the new member of their family.
