Shane McMahon kicked off SmackDown this week and said that WrestleMania was extra special because Daniel Bryan returned to the ring, and he was born to wrestle. He said Bryan has truly crossed over to become a full-time WWE Superstar, and he’s accepted Daniel’s resignation.
He said when one door closes, another opens and he introduced Paige as the new SmackDown Live GM.
Monday night on Raw, Paige confirmed she’s retired from in-ring competition and she delivered a very emotional speech. But she was all smiles when she made her way to the ring on Tuesday night.
Paige said Shane was the first person to greet her when she walked backstage after making her retirement speech on Monday, and she thanked him for giving her the opportunity.
She said that with the Superstar Shake-Up coming next week, she wanted to make tonight extra special and she brought up the fact that Daniel Bryan hasn’t wrestled on SmackDown in years.
She teased booking him in a match and the fans chanted “Rusev Day” then “AJ Styles.” Paige then said tonight Bryan will face AJ Styles on SmackDown Live.
