It’s been a huge year for Daniel Bryan. At the beginning 2018, he was retired and working as the SmackDown General Manager, but by the time WrestleMania 34 rolled around he was back in the ring standing side by side with Shane McMahon as they defeated Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn.
This week on SmackDown Live, Bryan defeated AJ Styles to win the WWE Championship and he also turned heel in the process. Now it seems that future plans for Daniel Bryan are still unfolding.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter notes that while a match between Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan was teased on SmackDown Live this week, Shane vs. Daniel is no longer on the table for WrestleMania 35.
A potential Daniel Bryan vs. Shane McMahon feud has been teased for quite some time, but with Daniel Bryan turning heel and winning the title it appears that WWE officials will have to reshuffle the deck once again.
It was rumored that Shane McMahon winning the WWE World Cup was supposed to signal the beginning of a heel turn for the SmackDown Live Commissioner, but it’s unclear now if the company still plans to turn Shane at this point.
