The most recent episode of SmackDown Live featured a huge moment when Charlotte Flair defeated Asuka to become the new SmackDown Women’s Champion.
Charlotte Flair will now be bringing her title with her to the main event at WrestleMania 35.
Originally Naomi, Carmella, Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville were supposed to compete in a match on SmackDown Live to determine who would be challenging Asuka at WrestleMania, but plans changed.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, originally Mandy Rose was set to earn the title shot and go on to challenge Asuka.
There was no indication that Rose was supposed to win the match.
In the end a decision was made to remove the SmackDown Women’s Championship match from the card, and add the title to the main event to make it stronger.
