We mentioned a few months ago that Sin Cara had done a series of interviews where he claimed he created the Sin Cara gimmick and that he would be using it outside of WWE. There still hasn’t been any confirmation on whether or not that’s true but the main claiming it is has a reputation for telling stories and it’s well known that WWE very rarely allows talent to use a gimmick/name that they don’t own.
In any case the original Sin Cara is still under the 90 day no compete clause in regards to his previous contract but according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter the WWE has given him the ok to wrestle on indie shows — as long as he doesn’t appear on TV. The original Sin Cara is still claiming that he created the gimmick and he will be using it once his 90 days are up. According to him his lawyers are working out a deal with WWE.
