The annual Royal Rumble pay-per-view aired live from St. Louis on Saturday night, and the 30 man Royal Rumble match main evented the event. Earlier in the night Brock Lesnar lost the WWE Championship to Bobby Lashly, but he later went on to enter the men’s Royal Rumble and win the match.
PWInsider reports that original plans called for Riddle to win the Royal Rumble. It’s being said that plans changed a ton of times over the last week, and the final decision was made to have Brock Lesnar enter as a surprise and win the match.
At one point there was reportedly a pitch made for Randy Orton to win the Royal Rumble as well, but Riddle was apparently the frontrunner until the decision was made to go with Brock Lesnar.
Stay tuned for more updates as they become available.
