This week’s episode of Monday Night Raw featured a huge announcement as Triple H unveiled the new WWE World Heavyweight Championship belt. The Game also announced that a new champion will be crowned at Night of Champions on Saturday, May 27. However, he did not reveal who will be competing for the belt or how the competitors would be determined.

Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that originally when WWE had plans to introduce a new WWE World Heavyweight Championship belt it was Cody Rhodes, Drew McIntyre and Seth Rollins who were considered to hold the title.

It was also noted that Drew McIntyre probably won’t be getting the championship because he hasn’t signed a new deal, so there’s doubt that WWE would put the belt on him. Meltzer pointed out how Seth Rollins and Austin Theory were the ones who teased becoming WWE World Heavyweight Champion the most this week, and Cody Rhodes didn’t address it at all.
