This week’s episode of AEW Dynamite took place from Rochester, New York and Miro defended the TNT Championship against Sammy Guevara in the main event. When it was all said and done it was Sammy who picked up the victory to win the title for the first time in his career.
Fightful Select reports that original plans tentatively called for Sammy Guevara to win the title during last week’s AEW Grand Slam from Arthur Ashe Stadium, but AEW pushed the title change back.
It was also noted that several people backstage knew about Sammy’s title win a few hours before the show, and that plans for the title change were put in place around All Out which aired on September 5.
Sammy Guevara will defend the TNT Title against Bobby Fish on AEW Dynamite next week.
