Original Plans For Kevin Owens’ Babyface Character

When Kevin Owens returned to WWE, he returned as a face, and with Big E out of action he recently became a honorary member of The New Day.

However, Owens turned on The New Day this week when he beat down Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods, and now he’s gone full heel.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that WWE turned Kevin Owens due to a combination of Kofi Kingston’s rise, and Daniel Bryan being out of action.

Original plans called for him to be a “guy next door babyface” who eats junk food, and has kids as well as the same problems everyone has, but could kick ass.

That’s why WWE gave him the stunner, as it’s thought of as the ultimate modern babyface finisher.

Daniel Bryan was originally set to face Kofi Kingston at Money In The Bank, but with Bryan out of action WWE needed a new opponent for Kingston.

The decision to turn KO heel was made a few days after Mania.
