Enzo Amore’s suspension has dominated the headlines all week, but it seems that WWE’s announcement really did come out of the blue since there were plans in place for the Cruiserweight Champion on Raw 25.
According to PWInsider the original plan for Enzo on the 25th Anniversary of Raw, was for him to face off with Goldust in a match that would have seen interference from the Zo train, that then led to The Dudley Boys coming out and making the save for Goldust and Cedric Alexander.
After Enzo’s suspension came to light just hours before Raw the segment had to be rewritten so that it included Rhyno, Heath Slater and Titus Worldwide instead. The cruiserweights were then completely left off the show as speculation about the Cruiserweight Championship continued, but instead, they were sent to the Manhattan Center and made part of the dark matches for the show.
Last night on 205 Live Daniel Bryan announced that there will be a new General Manager on the show and presumably they will now clear up the championship picture. There is still no news on whether or not there will be a match at the Royal Rumble for the championship given the recent issues surrounding the former champion and the belt.
