Original Plans For CM Punk Before Brawl At AEW All Out

CM Punk won the AEW World Championship when he defeated Jon Moxley in the main event at AEW All Out, but his title reign was short lived. The AEW World Championship was vacated a few days later after Punk was involved in a physical altercation with The Elite, and a tournament was held to crown a new champion. Jon Moxley eventually won the tournament to become the first ever three time AEW World Champion.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that prior to CM Punk getting suspended the plan was for him to revive his feud with MJF. The idea was for Punk and MJF to be the main feud in AEW with classic promo battles.

However, CM Punk is not expected to return to AEW, and now MJF is set to challenge Jon Moxley for the AEW World Championship at the Full Gear pay-per-view next month.
