Back in September, Chris Jericho won the ROH World Title when he defeated Claudio Castagnoli at AEW Grand Slam, and he took on many challengers in the months that followed. However, Jericho’s title reign recently came to an end when Castagnoli defeated him in a rematch at Final Battle.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that at first Sam Linsky and TBS were against the idea of Chris Jericho appearing on Final Battle because he’s one of AEW’s top stars.
At one point the idea was for Chris Jericho to drop the title to Claudio Castagnoli during the four way match at Full Gear, but plans were changed as everyone managed to get on board with the idea of Jericho appearing on a ROH pay-per-view.
It seems that the plan now is for Jericho and Claudio to move on from the Blackpool Combat Club vs. Jericho Appreciation Society angle and start new storylines. Stay tuned for updates.
