The Royal Rumble aired live from Tropicana Field on Saturday night, but Brock Lesnar did not appear at the event. It was reported that The Beast was originally set to return at the Royal Rumble. However, plans were changed due to the recent lawsuit that was filed against Vince McMahon.
Dave Meltzer recently noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that Bron Breakker ended up replacing Brock Lesnar in the Royal Rumble match. Bron Breakker fulfilled the role that was meant for Brock Lesnar, and it’s worth noting that the former NXT Champion was eliminated by Dominik Mysterio.
POST Wrestling is reporting that they were informed by a source with knowledge of the situation that original plans called for Brock Lesnar to face off against Dominik Mysterio at the Elimination Chamber premium live event in Perth, Australia. It’s unclear at this point in time if Bron Breakker will be stepping into the role that was set for Brock Lesnar at Elimination Chamber.
Following his appearance in the 30 man Royal Rumble match Bron Breakker spoke with Cathy Kelley and he declared that the main roster is now his home.
“I think tonight I proved that I belong on the main roster. This is my home now, and I’m ready for the work. I’m ready to prove to my peers and to the people and to everyone out there who believes in me that this is where I belong, this is what I was born to do. And I’m here, I’m ready to go.”
There’s no word on what WWE might have planned for Bron Breakker on the main roster, but it seems that he is not completely done with NXT as he’s currently set to compete in the Dusty Rhodes Classic finals at NXT Vengeance Day next weekend.
