Original Plans For Braun Strowman At WrestleMania

This has been an incredibly interesting Road To WrestleMania. With all the scandal, intrigue, rumor, and innuendo floating around it is hard to really pin down what’s going on especially in places where you would normally find some clarity.

For instance, the top of the card is usually a lot more clear than this but things were up in the air thanks to Jon Bravo’s documentary about the WFN bust which promises to prove 15 WWE Superstars from the past and present were customers of accused and convicted steroid dealer Richard Rodriguez.

Due to the documentary’s impending arrival, WWE held off on securing Roman Reigns in the WrestleMania main event match against Brock Lesnar for the Universal Title. He was still in the spot, but they had a very large backup plan in their back pocket.

Braun Strowman not only won Most Improved in this year’s Wrestling Observer Awards but he left a destructive path behind him that few have been able to compete with. Strowman’s push toward Mania was actually held off on due to Roman Reigns’ steroid allegations but apparently, WWE doesn’t see the documentary as a threat anymore so they’re cementing their plans for Brock Lesnar vs Roman Reigns.

Therefore, Braun Strowman is now free to seek out his own WrestleMania Moment. The initial plans for Strowman were to face The Miz but now that Seth Rollins and Finn Balor are in a triple threat match against The A-Lister that spot is already taken.

We previously reported how The Bar wasn’t scheduled to be in a match at Mania. It looks like those plans changed after Braun Strowman single-handedly defeated the entire Raw Tag Team Division winning a battle royal match to face The Bar at the Show Of Shows.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports plan B was for Strowman and The Bar to have a confrontation in the ring but not necessarily a match. This is why it was reported Sheamus and Cesaro might not have an actual match on the card. But now that it looks like it will be a real match and it could be for the Raw Tag Team Titles, only time will tell how it really plays out though.

Kurt Angle is most likely going to clear things up this week on Raw about what’s going on in this situation. But in all reality, it’s up to Vince McMahon on whether or not Strowman is given a tag team partner or if he just chooses to go it alone.
