We’re only a few weeks away from the upcoming Elimination Chamber pay-per-view, and on Sunday, February 25, the women of WWE will make history once again when they compete in the first ever women’s Elimination Chamber match.
This week on Monday Night Raw, General Manager Kurt Angle revealed that Mandy Rose, Sonya Deville, Bayley, Sasha Banks and Mickie James will all challenge Alexa Bliss for her title inside the chamber, but it looks like WWE changed the original plans.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, original plans called for Nia Jax to be part of the Elimination Chamber match, and Mickie James was the one who ended up replacing her.
Nia Jax will now go on to face Asuka in a singles match, and if she wins she will be added to the Raw Women’s Championship match at WrestleMania.
However, it’s worth noting that although General Manager Kurt Angle spoke as if Asuka vs. Alexa Bliss has been confirmed for WrestleMania 34, Asuka herself has yet to confirm which champion she will be facing.
So far Braun Strowman, Elias, Roman Reigns, John Cena and The Miz have all been confirmed for the men’s Elimination Chamber match. There is one open spot and the winner will go on to face Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship at WrestleMania 34.
Matt Hardy, Finn Balor, Bray Wyatt and Apollo Crews will all face off in a fatal 4 way on Raw to determine who will get the last spot.
The original idea for the men’s match was to have Jason Jordan and Seth Rollins advance their feud inside the chamber, but that plan had to be changed when Jordan was pulled from action so he could undergo surgery.
