Ever since he made his debut back at NXT Takeover: Orlando less than a year ago, it has seemed as though WWE has had big plans for Aleister Black.
His undefeated streak came to an end last year after he was pinned by Johnny Gargano during a fatal four-way match to crown a new number one contender to Andrade “Cien” Almas’ NXT Championship.
That being said, over the past few months he has been part of show-stealing matches against both Velveteen Dream and Adam Cole and is now rumoured to be the man set to step up to Almas in New Orleans as part of WrestleMania weekend.
New Orleans marks a year since Black’s debut and it seems that the current speculation suggests that he is set for a huge push over the next few months. This could mean that Black could celebrate his one year anniversary by winning the NXT Championship at Takeover: New Orleans in April.
It’s hard to see how WWE could push him any more than they already are, Black is yet to lose a singles match and was only pinned by Gargano because of interference from The Undisputed Era, which means that it’s likely that a title could be in the Dutch superstars immediate future.
