It’s certainly not uncommon for wrestlers to change their names when they join NXT. Not everyone gets to keep their name like Samoa Joe, Bobby Roode, Roderick Strong and other, and now NXT star Kimber Lee has changed her name. The former Kimber Lee took to Twitter to notify fans that she will not be known as Abbey Laith going forward.
Kimber Lee first appeared on NXT back in December, and she began training at the WWE Performance Center a few weeks later. The fact that her name has been changed could be a good sign that she will be used more in the coming months.
Sunday night at the Money in the Bank pay-per-view, Carmella became the first ever Miss Money in the Bank when she was handed the contract by James Ellsworth who climbed the ladder and grabbed the briefcase.
There are many people out there who were upset about the fact that the first ever women’s Money in the Bank match was won by a man, and on the latest episode of his podcast, Dinner With The King, Jerry Lawler noted that he wasn’t a fan of the finish.
“That’s one thing that disturbed me, and hopefully they will fix that in some kind of way. That’s what WWE has been about. We don’t even call them Divas anymore; it’s the women’s division because it’s about empowering women. So much of the emphasis that the WWE has put on the women’s division has done that. That’s why I was disappointed to see, in the first ever, historic Women’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match, that they had to have a man climb the ladder and retrieve the Money in the Bank briefcase. I’m one of them [people who are upset about the finish].”
