It’s a big week for WWE programming and it kicked off with Day 1 Raw on Monday which featured two big title matches and the return of The Rock who teased a match with Roman Reigns.

The action continued with NXT New Year’s Evil on Tuesday which originally had Trick Williams vs. Ilja Dragunov for the NXT Championship as the main event. However, a big change was made as it was announced during the show that Ilja was not cleared for in-ring competition therefore he would not be defending his title this week.

Later backstage Grayson Waller confronted Trick Williams and reminded him that he’s the original Iron Survivor. Carmelo Hayes then told Waller that Trick Williams is ready to go while suggesting that they face off in the main event.

Waller didn’t seem interested, but then Carmelo Hayes told Grayson Waller that Trick would put his NXT Title shot on the line and Waller immediately agreed to do the match. Trick Williams obviously didn’t seem too excited about the fact that Carmelo offered up the title shot he earned.
