While the rest of us were watching Raw last night hoping to God it would get better (spoiler, it didn’t) WWE was hard at work booking Smackdown for tonight.
Tonight’s episode of Smackdown will feature the #1 contender’s match between Luke Harper and AJ Styles (never thought we’d be saying that, did we?). Apparently, WWE is still trying to decide what to do with that match.
It has been reported Luke Harper might get placed in the WWE Championship match at Mania to make it an all-Wyatt Family affair, but there are still a number of people in creative who aren’t high on that idea. However, Harper deserves something at WrestleMania other than an Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal Appearance, regardless of which way they decided to go with the big SmackDown Live belt.
The rumors have been circulating that we very well might see the main roster debut of Shinsuke Nakamura on Smackdown as well. If that happens, we will mark out so hard because we will know AJ Styles vs. Shinsuke Nakamura is going to happen in Orlando. And, that would just be perfect.
If the #1 contender match wasn’t enough of a reason to tune in, WWE announced another match for the February 28th edition of Smackdown Live. There will be a 2 out of 3 falls match between Becky Lynch and Mickie James.
The wording WWE used was “settle the score” which leads us to assume this is going to be a blow-off match for their feud which will allow Becky the freedom to invest herself in something else. Mickie and the Lass Kicker have been trading victories since James returned as the mysterious La Luchadora. As soon as Mickie removed that hood, Becky was committed to seeing that rivalry through to the end. Tonight very well might be that promised ending.
Becky Lynch is probably going to set herself up in the position to challenge Alexa Bliss for her pretty blue belt and build toward the WreslteMania program for the Smackdown Women’s Title. Lynch is absolutely ready to take on the task of not only defeating the 6-time Women’s Champion but also break both of Mickie’s arms in the process.
Let’s just hope WWE can figure out something to do with Mickie James after this that is deserving of her excellent talent.
We’ll also be seeing Dolph Ziggler face off with Apollo Crews this week on SmackDown, as WWE has announced that they will do battle in a chairs match.
For weeks now WWE has been slowly dropping hints that we will be seeing John Cena team up with Nikki Bella to take on the Miz and Maryse at WrestleMania and it looks like that rivalry will be moving forward tonight, because Cena is scheduled to be a guest on Miz TV.
