WWE contracts have been a very hot topic over the last few months as a number of names have parted ways with the company. Earlier this week Santos Escobar’s WWE contract expired, but WWE made another offer to Santos Escobar, which he accepted, so he is now back with the company.
BodySlam is now reporting that Santos Escobar was originally planned to defeat El Hijo del Vikingo for the AAA Mega Championship at one point. The idea was that Escobar would hold the AAA Mega Championship with Angel and Berto holding the AAA World Tag Team Championship as well.
Escobar winning the title was the direction that was discussed, but plans changed. Ultimately it was Dominik Mysterio who defeated El Hijo del Vikingo to win the AAA Mega Championship, which he still currently holds.
Santos Escobar has not appeared on WWE programming in months, and he last stepped into the ring at the WWE SuperShow in Mexico on July 27th. There’s currently no word on what WWE has planned for Escobar moving forward, but his concerns with creative were reportedly considered by the company before he signed the new deal.
