When Nexus first debuted on the WWE main roster they quickly became the focus of WWE’s top storyline. It seemed that everyone was talking about the group, but eventually Nexus fizzled out and most of the wrestlers who were part of Nexus are no longer with WWE.
Darren Young previously indicated that WWE had planned a Nexus reunion for WrestleMania 36 weekend, but ultimately plans for the reunion were canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Heath Miller recently addressed the rumor while speaking with Wrestling Shoot Interviews and he confirmed that there was an idea to bring the group back together.
“Well, yes, let’s just say it was a rumor, but it was a rumor that could’ve been true. So they were going to do a documentary about Nexus, but the only people they could get was Wade [Barrett], Darren Young, and I want to say that was it. I don’t think they asked [Michael] Tarver. Ryback and WWE just don’t have a great relationship.”
While talking about the plan for the reunion he explained what Nexus was supposed to do at the canceled NXT TakeOver: Tampa Bay event when he added, “We were all supposed to be front row. We all show up. They’re looking like, ‘What the hell’s happening,’ and then we pretty much do what we did in 2010, but it didn’t happen.”
Even though the reunion didn’t happen Nexus is still a group that is remembered by many wrestling fans, so it will be interesting to see if WWE tries to put together another reunion at some point in the future.
