When it comes to being a professional wrestler in-ring skills and promo skills are important, but wrestlers are also pressured to find the right image.
While speaking on the Swerve City Podcast with Isaiah “Swerve” Scott, Teasy and Big Swole, former WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion Nikki Cross opened up about her issues with her body, and she noted that at one point she was trying out diets that weren’t healthy for her.
“I think guys and girls can relate to this. Like you know, the body image and you go through all these — in my early twenties, going through all these crazy diets and just ended up doing these stupid diets that would like — they just weren’t healthy. Mentally or physically they just weren’t healthy.”
Cross went on to say that over time she learned to embrace herself and that she found ways to build herself up mentally.
“One of the best things [of] the last few years was just getting away from that and being like, ‘I’m a sexy b*tch.’ I would always look at photos of myself because I would wear the two-piece and the only thing I would look at would be my stomach and I wouldn’t look at anything else. It didn’t matter — anything else. I would just always look at that and it was such a paranoia so it was just the getting away from that and the last couple of years, it just — I think as you get older, you realize, ‘Embrace yourself’, as cheesy as it sounds but like, it’s true. I’m sure guys, everyone goes through it in this industry.”
Over the last few weeks Nikki Cross and Alexa Bliss have been teasing that they want a shot at the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles, presumably at WrestleMania.
However, it was reported that due to the recent changes surrounding the Show of Shows that some matches which haven’t been officially announced for the event might not happen. You can get more on that here.
