Cody Rhodes made his big return to the ring at the Royal Rumble back in January, and he punched his ticket to WrestleMania when he won the 30 man Royal Rumble match. The American Nightmare challenged The Tribal Chief for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship on the Grandest Stage of Them All, but unfortunately for Cody he didn’t walk out with the gold.
The next night on Raw, Brock Lesnar kicked off a feud with Cody Rhodes that stretched through SummerSlam. Rhodes ended up scoring a decisive victory over Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam and now everyone is waiting to see what Cody’s next extended program will be.
During the WWE live event in Palm Desert, CA on Saturday night Cody Rhodes appeared on the VIP Lounge with MVP and Omos. Cody then went on to defeated NXT North American Champion Dominik Mysterio in a non-title street fight and during the match The American Nightmare was attacked by Omos.
It’s not clear at this point in time if this was just an angle done for a live event, or if WWE could be testing the waters for a potential Cody vs. Omos feud. One way or another Cody Rhodes is currently scheduled to open Monday Night Raw this week, so it will be interesting to hear what he has to say.
Stay tuned for more updates as they become available.
