The women’s division on SmackDown Live has been going through some changes as of late with the additions of Charlotte Flair and Tamina, but several key players are still trying to dominate the division.

Sunday night at Backlash, SmackDown Women’s Champion Naomi will team up with Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch to take on Tamina, Carmella and Natalya. The heel team recently came together to form The Welcoming Committee, and they’ve been a force to be reckoned with ever since.
Natalya and Tamina have been on the main roster for quite some time now, but Carmella only joined the SmackDown Live brand last year when she was called up during the draft. The former NXT star has been working hard to improve her skills each and every week, and it looks like her efforts have paid off.
Sportskeeda is reporting that WWE officials are high up on Carmella, and she’s set to step into a Women’s Title feud with Naomi after Backlash.
The report also claims that Carmella was originally set to win the SmackDown Women’s Title at WrestleMania 33 and then drop it to Naomi two days later, but plans were changed when the match was moved to the main show.
WWE officials were reportedly impressed with how well Carmella took the news when she found out she wouldn’t be winning the title, and they’re also said to be impressed with the way she handles herself, and the fact that she’s embraced her storyline with James Ellsworth.
The Princess of Staten Island also has Triple H on her side, which is certainly a plus.
