There was a report going around yesterday via the Wrestling Observer Newsletter saying that WWE was interested in using Bully Ray for the May 15th NXT live event in Philly back in but they changed their mind. The report went on to claim that WWE decided not to use Bully Ray because he had appeared on TNA Impact a special referee.
PWInsider shot this report down by saying a deal was made for Bully to work the show but he had to cancel due to an ear injury. Their report mentions that Bully called WWE officials and told them the ear injury was affecting his equilibrium and that he didn’t want it to in turn effect his performance in the ring. WWE officials reportedly understood the situation and appreciated the fact that Bully Ray contacted them to give them a heads up. Tommy Dreamer was then used instead.
On a related note, Bully Ray and Devon continue to lobby for a WWE return in recent interviews.
