The relationship between Rey Mysterio and WWE officially came to an end today as Rey’s contract expired and was not renewed. There have been issues between Rey and WWE for some time due to the fact that they extended his contract because he missed so many dates while he was out with an injury.
This has obviously made Rey one of the hottest free agents on the market. Rey won’t be wrestling right away but he will be making appearances to do signings. He’s expected to make his way to Lucha Underground and although the two sides haven’t signed a deal yet, it’s been rumored that Lucha Underground has been interested in Rey for quite some time. Alberto El Patron also teased in an interview earlier this week that a big name was coming to Lucha Underground.
Mexico’s AAA promotion is also holding a press conference this week which has caused many to speculate that they will be making an announcement regarding Mysterio appearing at their March 15th event.
