News And Notes From Triple H’s Media Conference Call

Triple H had a media conference call today and the Wrestling Observer provided full coverage of the event, here are some of the highlights:

Triple H started off with a glowing review of Shinsuke Nakamura’s talent and charisma. He went on to say that he “can’t say enough about” how much talent he has, but Bobby Roode is “hell bent” on proving that he’s the star that he claims to be.

Trips went on to cover some of the talent from the United Kingdom Championship tournament and said that he “can’t say enough good things about the talent in the UK.” He spent a little bit of time during the beginning of this conference talking about how he didn’t have words to talk about things, but it was all in a very positive and optimistic light.

Triple H reconfirmed that a weekly UK based show is the main objective for the UK talent and he is looking forward to working with them on much bigger things in the future.

He said that: “A lot of confusion is based on people’s refusal to realize the reality of the situation” concerning the restrictions which have been handed down recently surrounding the UK talent. He went on to say that they have no issue with UK talent working for other promotions as long as it’s not distributed. He said that the talent knew the deal when they signed the contracts and he wants to continue to work with other promotions to cultivate talent.

He stated that confusion is on the promoter’s side by changing things.

Triple H said that WWE is working through everything necessary to make the UK show a reality and they have the resources to do it now even though a time frame doesn’t exist yet.

Hunter said that the format of the future UK show will depend on what they are trying to accomplish. He didn’t shut down the idea that there might be a blending of all the rosters at some point on 205 Live or NXT to polish them up for a possible main roster run.

He seemed very positive about 205 Live although he stated that incorporating the cruiserweights is still a work in progress.

He said that he wants to work with places that cultivate talent and progress their careers. He doesn’t want to work with promotions that just “use talent.” He wants these athletes’ jobs to be full-time wrestlers.

Triple H said that he saw Matt Riddle’s talent during his tryout, and he is all for second chances but people still have to prove themselves. He said that they “nudged along the process to get Riddle to a place where he could be taken care of and cultivated.”

He concluded the conference by hyping NXT and reiterated the importance of the WWE developmental system for polishing talent and getting them prepared for the main roster.
