When one of our heroes is hospitalized and has to undergo emergency surgery after being put into a medically induced coma it scares us. It’s not that we want to think the worst in every situation but when all you’re hearing is how serious something is it tends to get to you in a bad way.
Ric Flair was recently forced to have surgery and the internet was collectively worried about The Nature Boy. Many people thought Flair was in an Atlanta hospital due to a heart-related issue because he’s admitted to having heart related issues in the past.
However, Dave Meltzer recently gave an update on Ric Flair’s condition on an episode of Wrestling Observer Radio where he revealed Flair’s latest health issue isn’t actually heart-related.
“[Ric Flair] was in a lot of pain and he was taken in on Saturday morning to the hospital,” Dave Meltzer explained. “He was put in a medically induced coma, his situation was real bad and he had colon surgery this morning and he got through the surgery. He’s not out of the water yet — I believe he’s on kidney dialysis now.”
“It’s a tough situation during the day it was not looking good — it wasn’t looking good at all. That’s probably where you heard the story of you know, the tweets from Michael Hayes and everything. It was a pretty bad situation and he’s still not out of the water but the fact that he’s still alive now is a good sign. But this was definitely a bad day and hopefully, tomorrow’s a better day.”
Whether it was a heart surgery or colon surgery this situation still put the legendary Horseman down and caused a good deal of worrying. Get better Nature Boy, we’ll be waiting to hear you say “woooo” again very soon.
