When we first heard that the New Day were hosting WrestleMania 33 in Orlando in April, we kind of thought that it was just a way for WWE to keep a big WM-payday on Kofi, Big E, and Woods without having them in a big money match for the tag titles. But this news has turned out to be a much bigger deal than just an update to the show’s format.
TMZ picked up this story, so that means the guy who used to be Jamaican, the guy who used to have the last name Langston, and WWE’s first legit Ph D holder have gone mainstream. The interview can be seen here, and it’s a neat little interview about how they feel about getting the job.
The look on Big E’s face is especially priceless, you can tell he’s planning something.
Woods said that they’d “be on the show” and be hosting the show, so they could still have a match, but it’s an amazing opportunity for New Day to perform and an even bigger opportunity for WWE to capitalize on their terrific popularity. It displays the great trust Vince McMahon must have in them to not take their improv skills too far. It will also be a great place for them to split up, but let’s not talk about that.
The New Day seem happy about the gig as Kofi says that their goal is to just have fun and make sure everybody is having a good time because if New Day is having fun, then everybody’s having fun. One thing’s for sure, this gives us even more of a reason why we can’t wait for April 2nd.
And, if you were wondering who we think would pull a move like Rollins did to break them up, we think it would be Francesca.
No it isn’t a big deal. New Day sucks.
