A few weeks ago Samoa Joe defeated MJF to win the AEW World Championship at the Worlds End pay-per-view. Following the match Joe indicated that he would be getting rid of MJF’s Triple B belt and Joe debuted a new version of the AEW World Championship during the special Homecoming edition of Dynamite on Wednesday night.
Samoa Joe made his way down to the ring with a new version of the belt which once again features a black strap and side plates which had Joe’s name on them.
Joe talked for a few minutes before he was interrupted by Swerve Strickland who made his way down to the ring. Swerve told Samoa Joe that it’s not personal he just wants the AEW World Championship. Then Swerve told Samoa Joe that he would be happy to make it personal after he takes the belt from him.
Adam Page came down to the ring and he got in Swerve’s face. Page talked about all of the things he did in 2023, but said that the AEW World Championship got away from him. He declared that he will make the AEW World Championship his in 2024. Swerve got frustrated and left. Page left shortly after.
Samoa Joe was still standing in the ring when Hook’s music hit. Hook simply walked down to the ring, got in Samoa Joe’s face, pointed at the belt and challenged Joe to a title match next week on Dynamite.
