Over the weekend the AEW Double or Nothing pay-per-view aired from Las Vegas and Adam Copeland defended the TNT Championship against Malakai Black. Copeland pulled out all the stops to pick up a big win and retain the title, but he recently confirmed that he fractured his tibia during the match.
With Adam Copeland out of action for an undetermined amount of time fans wondered what would be done with the TNT Championship and it was announced ahead of Dynamite this week that The Young Bucks would address the situation during the show.
Matthew and Nicholas Jackson made their way out into the arena then they waited at the bottom of the ramp as Kazuchika Okada and Jack Perry entered. The Bucks said they’ve had a good week because their new Reeboks are selling well, so they got Kazuchika Okada a gift. The cameras then cut to Lamborghini pulling into the parking lot. Okada was overwhelmed as the fans chanted, “You deserve it!”
The TNT Championship situation was then addressed as Matt Jackson announced that Adam Copeland has been stripped of the title. Matt said that the network wants a new champion and they know just the guy. He then announced that Jack Perry will be the new TNT Champion, but he was interrupted by Christopher Daniels.
Daniels said that Tony Khan made him the interim Executive Vice President which means anything he says is coming from Tony Khan himself. He said that over the next few weeks a series of matches will be held and the winners of those matches will go on to compete for the TNT Championship in a ladder match at Forbidden Door.
The Elite got out of the ring and made a move to attack Daniels, but Billy Gunn and The Acclaimed came out to make the save.
