You can’t have a pro wrestling company without challengers for the top title. It might be awesome to be a champion for now, but every man or woman who holds a title must soon face the harsh reality that they always have a bullseye on their back.
Since Drew McIntyre experienced an arm injury he’s not going to be able to try and win his NXT Championship back. But there still needs to be someone to go for the gold in the meantime.
At this week’s NXT television taping there were plenty of awesome moments including a rather shocking title change. But a new #1 contender needed to be determined for the NXT Title and a big match was set up to figure out who would be locking up with Andrade “Cien” Almas next.
Killian Dain, Johnny Gargano, Lars Sullivan, and Aleister Black went at it to figure out who would be vying for the NXT Title in a huge match inside Full Sail Arena. The ring was rocking when these four superstars went at it and everyone in the crowd had their favorite performer. With guys like this doing battle everyone had their sections of the crowd cheering them on.
Things got sketchy near the end of the match when Undisputed Era showed up and attacked Aleister Black just when it looks like he was going to walk away as the top guy to challenge Andrade “Cien” Almas.
In the end, it was Johnny Wrestling walking away with the win to earn a shot at the NXT Championship. Seeing how this match will be Johnny Gargano vs Andrade “Cien” Almas, this sounds like it will be an incredible match between two hungry competitors. It’s about time that Gargano made his way to the top, let’s just hope the match is as shenanigan free as possible. Either way, the main event for NXT TakeOver: Philly is going to be awesome.
