NBC And WWE Issue Statement On Controversial Content Being Edited Out Of WWE Network

A few months ago it was announced that the WWE Network would be moving to NBC’s Peacock streaming service, but some controversial content has already been removed.

Peacock edited Roddy Piper wearing blackface for his match against Bad News Brown out of WrestleMania VI, and a segment which featured Vince McMahon using a racial slur backstage at Survivor Series in 2005 was also edited out of the show.

At this point there’s no telling what else will be removed as it’s been reported that Peacock will be reviewing 17,000 hours of WWE content.

NBCUniversal issued a statement to The New York Times which said that Peacock is, “reviewing WWE content to ensure it aligns with Peacock’s standards and practices.”

WWE also issued a comment on the situation noting that, “Peacock and WWE are reviewing all past content to ensure it fits our 2021 standards.”

Stay tuned for more updates on Peacock reviewing WWE Network content as they become available.
