The Hell in a Cell pay-per-view aired live on Sunday night, but fans didn’t see Roman Reigns in action at the event as he defended his Universal Championship against Rey Mysterio on SmackDown last week.
Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that NBC Universal was not happy about the Universal Title match getting moved from the Hell in a Cell pay-per-view, and therefore getting removed from the broadcast on their Peacock streaming service.
It’s also being reported that FOX has taken issue with the fact that WWE regularly promotes the Peacock streaming service on Friday Night SmackDown, and numerous individuals from FOX are said to be unhappy.
Vince McMahon is reportedly playing a “balancing act” to keep both networks happy. Recently FOX and NBC have been pitching the idea of themed shows to WWE. Stay tuned for updates.
