It was an action packed weekend for wrestling fans as there were several big shows to watch. WWE Evolution finished out the weekend on Sunday night and the event featured a huge title match in the main event as Iyo Sky defended the WWE Women’s World Championship against Rhea Ripley.
Iyo Sky and Rhea Ripley pushed each other to the limit, but neither one of them walked out with the gold. Near the end of the match Naomi made her way out to the ring and it was announced that she was cashing in her Money in the Bank contract.
As soon as Naomi entered the match she hit Iyo Sky with the Money in the Bank briefcase then threw Rhea Ripley into the ring post. Naomi then connected with a split legged moonsault on Iyo Sky and pinned her to become the new WWE Women’s World Champion.
Following the main event Naomi appeared on the Evolution post-show press conference, and she talked about the reaction to her big WWE Women’s World Championship win.
“Very, very emotional. Very emotional, very cool, very surreal… To go to the back and just feel the love, that’s what touches me the most and what I enjoy and love the most is the reactions, you know what I mean? And just seeing so many new faces and talent but also… they’re like, ‘Oh, I been watching you since –’ we got a lot of NXT girls here — ‘I been watching you since Total Divas’ or, ‘I been watching you since NXT season three’ and just to see them get emotional and happy, it’s really cool. But it don’t matter (she laughed). It don’t matter. Because they ain’t getting no title shots.”
