For the last few years the WarGames matches have been the highlight of the Survivor Series premium live event. This year’s show kicked off with the women’s WarGames match which saw AJ Lee’s team pick up the victory. Later in the night two all star teams clashed in the men’s WarGames match which main evented the show.
CM Punk was the first competitor to make his entrance and he received a huge ovation from the San Diego fans. Punk decided to climb into the cage instead of walking through the door. Bron Breakker entered the match as the first competitor for the heel team.
Drew McIntyre’s music hit next and McIntyre looked furious as he stared down Punk while marching to the ring. McIntyre wasted little time as he delivered a Claymore to Punk shortly after he entered the cage. Breakker and McIntyre destroyed Punk for a few minutes then Cody made his entrance. McIntyre wouldn’t let Cody enter through the door, so Cody climbed to the top and jumped onto McIntyre from the top of the cage.
Cody landed a Cody Cutter on Bron Breakker. CM Punk approached The American Nightmare from behind and Cody hit him with an elbow as he turned around. Rhodes quickly explained to Punk that it was a mistake and they got on the same page right after as they teamed up to fight Breakker and McIntyre.
Logan Paul entered the match next. Before he got into the cage he grabbed two chairs from underneath the ring. Logan and Cody ended up fighting on top of the cage. They exchanged strikes until Bron Breakker hit Cody with a steel chair which prompted Cody to climb down.
The heels completely dominated Punk and Cody for a few minutes then Jimmy Uso joined the match. Jimmy grabbed a table from under the ring and slid it into the cage. The faces continued to struggle and the heels got the advantage as Bronson Reed made his entrance and immediately connected with a tsunami on CM Punk, Jimmy Uso and Cody.
Jey Uso came out next to join the face team. He helped his team get the upper hand then called for his entrance music to be played again as he climbed to the top of the cage.
As Jey Uso was vibing to his music on top of the cage Brock’s music hit and the mood changed completely as The Beast Incarnate walked to the ring alongside Paul Heyman. Lesnar immediately took everyone to Suplex City then delivered the F5 to Jimmy, Punk, Cody and Jey.
Finally Roman’s music hit and Brock Lesnar stood in front of the cage while he waited for The Tribal Chief to arrive. Roman hit Brock with a Superman Punch followed by another and another. He went for a fourth Superman Punch, but Brock caught Roman and put him through the announce table with the F5.
Brock slammed Roman into the barricade then threw him into the cage as the bell rang then he hit the OTC with the F5 again. Cody broke up the pin and Punk hit Lesnar with the GTS. Cody followed up with Cross Rhodes on Brock. Punk and Cody both covered Brock, but Logan Paul broke it up. Paul Heyman handed brass knuckles to Logan Paul and he knocked out Cody then Jimmy Uso.
Logan Paul tried to hit Roman Reigns with the brass knuckles, but Roman caught him with a spear. The Tribal Chief took the brass knuckles, put them on then took out Bronson Reed and Drew McIntyre with a Superman Punch followed by a spear on Bron Breakker.
Jey Uso picked Brock Lesnar up and called to Roman. Lesnar put Jey on his shoulders for the F5 then Roman speared Brock through a table in the corner before he could hit the move on Jey.
McIntyre hit Cody with a low blow and Bron Breakker followed up with a spear on The American Nightmare. He tried to spear Punk, but Punk dodged it. Punk got the GTS on Logan Paul while a hooded figure climbed into the ring. You couldn’t see the person’s face as they were also wearing a mask. He superkicked Punk while Punk was on his knees and hit him with the Stomp then quickly climbed out of the cage. The commentators pointed out that the mystery man seemed to be using Seth Rollins’ moves. Breakker followed up with a spear on CM Punk and pinned him to win the match.
After the match Roman Reigns helped CM Punk up and they did a fist bump. Cody Rhodes then stared Roman down. Roman started to leave and he had a quick exchange with Cody as he told him this is the last time they’ll ever team while the show went off the air.
