A few years ago WWE made a huge change to WrestleMania when the company decided to expand the show to two nights. Next year it’s SummerSlam that’s set to be expanded as the first ever two night SummerSlam will take place from MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey on Saturday, August 2 and Sunday, August 3.
With WrestleMania and SummerSlam both expanding to two nights there’s been a lot of speculation that WWE could potentially add an additional night to other PLEs in the future.
At the UBS Global Media & Communications Conference, CEO of TKO Mark Shapiro talked about the possibility of WWE expanding more shows and he indicated that he thinks there’s room to expand.
“It’s all a progression, a natural evolution. WrestleMania was a big hit for us to expand. As you look at all these PLEs, depending on the partner, I think there is absolutely room to advance some of them to two days.”
There’s currently no word on whether or not WWE is actively looking into expanding future events at the moment, or which events could add an additional night, but judging from Mark Shapiro’s comments it sounds like everything is on the table.
