Mass releases have become normal for WWE over the last two years, and on Thursday the company released another 18 Superstars from the roster.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that some of the talents were released because they refused to get vaccinated, and they weren’t big enough stars to get away with that. The number going around is that 5 out of the 18 released were not vaccinated, but one talent said it was a larger number than that.
It was also noted that talents who were released because they were unvaccinated were told that they were released due to budget cuts.
It’s also being said that age played a factor as the company is well aware that they don’t have enough talent in their 20s on TV right now. WWE is looking to recruit more younger, bigger talents with an athletic background moving forward and the new recommendation when it comes to hiring women is to bring in women who are 25 or younger.
Virtually all veteran wrestlers who aren’t being used in WWE or NXT right now were discussed for a potential release.
