In recent weeks some interesting names have been making moves in the world of professional wrestling, and it was recently reported that Cesaro’s contract with WWE has expired.
Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that Cesaro’s contract expired as of this week, and the two sides were in negotiations but could not come to terms on a new deal. Since they couldn’t come to terms it seems to be an indication that Cesaro didn’t get an offer at the same level as some of the recent big money deals that were given to talents like Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens and AJ Styles.
Cesaro didn’t receive a backdoor offer from AEW while he was negotiating with WWE, so his departure isn’t a case of him receiving a better offer to go elsewhere. It’s possible that AEW could make him an offer in the future now that he’s a free agent.
It’s being said that his departure is more of a WWE decision rather than a Cesaro decision as he wasn’t looking to leave, but the company made him an offer he didn’t. Cesaro is now free to go anywhere moving forward. Stay tuned for more updates.
