Last month it was reported that several AEW stars had been contacted by WWE about potentially returning to the company and one of the talents informed AEW management of the contract.
Malakai Black has been released from WWE and Fightful Select reports that he indicated to people in the company that he wished he was still there. Black is now done with AEW, but he is unable to work for WWE for an extended period of time. However, it’s being said that there are higher ups in AEW who are of the “if they want to go, let them,” mentality.
A source within WWE also noted that the company sent feelers out to FTR. Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler spent years working with Triple H and WWE made numerous attempts to re-sign them under Vince McMahon’s regime, but they reportedly have a while left on their AEW contracts.
Swerve Strickland is another AEW name that WWE contacted. An AEW source is also claiming that in August WWE reached out to another name who had been with All Elite Wrestling from the start. The name wasn’t revealed but it’s being said that it was surprising.
