Jeff Hardy was recently sent to SmackDown in the recent draft, but fans won’t be seeing him on TV this week because the former WWE Champion was recently released from his WWE contract.
It was reported that Jeff Hardy turned down rehab following an incident at the WWE live event in Edinburg, TX on Saturday night and that the company sent him home from the road.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that WWE sources noted Jeff Hardy was fully aware WWE officials would have to take action if he decided to refuse rehab.
After he refused rehab WWE then made the decision to release him instead of suspending the Charismatic Enigma. Jeff Hardy will be paid through March 9th, 2022 when he is set to become a free agent.
It’s being said that WWE released Jeff Hardy knowing that there’s a chance he could be signed by All Elite Wrestling and become a big star there, but WWE’s hands were tied when Jeff turned down rehab. However, it’s not clear at this point in time if AEW is interested in Hardy due to the circumstances that led to his release. Stay tuned for updates.
