After winning the AEW World Championship at Double or Nothing, CM Punk appeared on Rampage last week and announced to the world that he will be taking time off due to injury.
Neither AEW nor CM Punk have confirmed the nature of Punk’s injury, but Dave Meltzer recently noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that it seems Punk could be dealing with a broken foot.
“So Punk had his surgery today. I don’t know why they don’t say it was a broken foot, and he hasn’t actually said it was a broken foot, but he had foot surgery today, and I guess it went well.
“You know I broke my foot about 5/6 years ago right? So, Punk asked me all about when I broke my foot. So, it’s like, I guess he had a broken foot, right?
“He didn’t tell me had a broken foot, but he asked me, did I need surgery and questions about a broken foot, so I presume it’s a broken foot.”
It was confirmed on AEW Dynamite this week that CM Punk underwent surgery in Los Angeles on Wednesday to repair a lower leg injury. There’s currently no word on when he could be returning to the ring. Stay tuned for more updates as they become available.
