CM Punk officially made his debut with All Elite Wrestling in August of 2021, but it looks like his run with the company could be coming to an end. It was recently reported that AEW is currently in talks to buy out CM Punk’s contract, and that a return to the company is in doubt for CM Punk.
The former AEW World Champion has been surrounded by controversy ever since his physical altercation with The Elite at the All Out pay-per-view last month.
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful noted that immediately after the brawl involving CM Punk and The Elite there was talk of AEW buying out his contract. It’s not clear if that idea was already in the works, but a number of people reportedly saw that as a likely scenario.
At this point in time there’s no telling what the future holds for CM Punk’s wrestling career, but a return to AEW seems unlikely. Stay tuned for more updates as they become available.
